Plant a Tree campaign

e4education supports the fight against climate change

Kate Sheffield presents a tree to Langham Primary SchoolAs part of the company's environmental strategy e4education will send a tree to every school that places an order. The "Plant a Tree" campaign is specifically linked to try and offset carbon emissions and we hope you agree that it's a worthwhile campaign.

Whether you are an existing client who wants to upgrade your website or a new school we will send you a tree to plant in your grounds.

As an Internet company it makes sense not to print thousands of brochures and use our website and e-mail as our main form of communication. In the event we do require any printed materials we ensure they are produced on recycled paper or material sourced from sustainable forests.

Lighthouse search to celebrate new website

Pupils at Mangotsfield Primary School had to find hidden lighthouses in a competition to celebrate the launch of its new website.

The learning lighthouses represent the core values of the school and include moral, spiritual and celebratory aims to encourage children to have high self esteem and think of others.

Headteacher Mark Cripps, who introduced the lighthouses to the school last year, said: “These core values are not just for children but something we can all take on board. By making them the focus of our website, it means parents and the wider community and anyone who looks at the website can also see what we’re all about.”

The new website, www.mangotsfieldprimary.org, allows parents of the 390 pupils to view galleries of school activities or work their child has done in class, access latest school news and information, a calendar of events, view the Ofsted report or find out how to get involved in school fundraising. Pupils have a special children’s area with learning-based games and child-safe internet links.

The school in Mangotsfield, Bristol, celebrated the launch of the new website by planting a tree and holding a lighthouse competition where pupils had to find 17 lighthouses hidden within the site.

The tree was donated by e4education, which built and designed the new website. Managing director John Roach said: “Your school website is the best way to communicate with parents, pupils and the wider community, embedding the school into their lives beyond the classroom . It can really make a difference, and when the pupils have helped create it, it’s owned by the community as well.”

The leading provider of school websites in the country, e4education's Plant A Tree campaign is part of the company's environmental strategy and reinforces the company's attempts to conduct all its business and communication via email and the internet and eliminate the need for printed materials.

Green group plants bush to celebrate new website

Charborough Road School’s green group planted a bush to celebrate the launch of its new website.

The group of seven and eight-year-olds regularly give up their lunch hours to keep the school grounds looking nice by planting pots, weeding and picking up litter.

This time, the Cornubia bush was donated to the school in Filton, Bristol, by e4education, which built and designed the new website.

The site, www.charboroughroadprimary,co.uk, was designed to improve communication with parent and the community as well as providing a safe and entertaining section for pupils.

Headteacher Nicola Bailey said: “Parents would discover 10 dog-eared copies of our newsletter in the bottom of their child’s bag at the end of term. This way they can access all the school news and information online. We’ve had some lovely feedback from parents who really appreciate being able to communicate.”

As well as school news and information, the site also allows parents of the 250 pupils to view photo galleries of work their child has done in class, find out about Ofsted reports and admissions procedures, view a who’s who of staff, a calendar of events, and find out how to get involved in school activities and fundraising.

Mrs Bailey said: “We spend a long time with the e4education web designers making it child friendly and the pupils had a chance to say what they thought should be included on the site.”

Managing director of e4education John Roach said: “By using your website to engage with parents and members of the public it brings an energy that really puts the school at the heart of the community.”
